Richard Stanage BDS MFGDP DPDS PGCE . GDC no. 62317
The Principal Clinician at Stanage Dental, Richard qualified in 1987, and after a spell working in hospital and general practice to further enhance his skills, took over the practice in 1991 with his wife, Jenny.
He offers all aspects of dental care but has a special interest in more complex cases, and has gained Certificates in Implantology from Sheffield University, and in Restorative Dentistry from the University of Warwick.
We are pleased to have been a recognised training practice for newly qualified dentists for many years, and Richard is the appointed Trainer, with an assisting and mentoring role; he holds a Certificate in Postgraduate Training and was recently awarded a Postgraduate Certificate in Education.
He loves sailing and walking and enjoys trying to drive cars older than him!
His wife, Jenny, had to retire recently due to ill health; she misses her patients but still takes an active administrative role behind the scenes.
Chris Ball BSc (Hons) BDS (Hons) GDC No. 264000
Chris completed a Biomedical Sciences degree at Lancaster in 2012, and then went on to complete his Dentistry degree at UCLan in 2016. He joined the practice in September 2018, after experience in both NHS and private practices, as well as working in prison dentistry. He plans to add facial aesthetics to his skill set, and in his spare time enjoys dog walking, cookery and holidays in Cornwall.
Jemma Thackray BDS MFDS (RCS Glas) GDC no. 229102
Jemma qualified in Manchester in 2012 and worked in the Fylde area before joining us in 2015. She has a keen interest in Orthodontics and also works in the local dental emergency clinic some evenings and weekends.
Outside of dentistry, she enjoys playing netball and tennis, and loves all things related to Hercule Poirot!
She is having cosmetic braces herself (Invisalign) so can explain the process to patients from both sides, as a dentist and patient!
Louise Caldecott BDS MFDS (RCSEd) GDC No. 191369
Louise qualified in 2010 from Liverpool and then spent a year working in the hospital environment before moving into general practice. She joined us in 2016 and especially enjoys putting nervous patients at ease and giving patients a smile they can be proud of.
In her spare time she enjoys scuba diving and is a PADI Divemaster. She has dived all over the world and is currently planning a trip to South Africa.
Lily Long BDS (Hons) GDC no. 278295
Lily is from Poulton originally, and studied Dentistry at Sheffield, qualifying in June 2018. We were delighted to welcome her to the practice in September 2018 and she has settled in very well as part of the team. When not at work, she enjoys socialising with friends and family in between regular gym visits.
Alina Hashmi BDS GDC No. 250836
Alina studied Dentistry at Liverpool and qualified in 2014. After doing her first year general practice training with us, she took a hospital position in Oral Surgery at the Royal Preston Hospital.
We were delighted to welcome her back to the practice in August 2016.
Stuart Fishwick BDS GDC No. 271015
Stuart is Blackpool born and bred, and qualified at Manchester University in june 2017. He joined our practice in september 2017 as a newly-qualified dentist; he happily decided to stay with us after his training year.
He spends some of his time off working out at the gym and enjoys watching rugby matches (union and league!)
Phil Bowden BSc BDS GDC No. 258004
Having obtained a BSc in Biological Sciences from Lancaster in 2010, Phil bravely went back to uni at UCLAN and qualified as a dentist in 2015. He joined us in 2016 and when he’s at home he’s most likely to be found in the garage getting his track car ready for a track day! He is also a keen cyclist, both on the road and in the mountains.
The care of your gums around your teeth is very important for the wellbeing of your mouth and your health in general.We employ a hygienist, Helen Whinstanley (GDC No. 3235) who provides simple scale and polish treatments, as well as more complex periodontal care, in a gentle and caring manner.
Our Practice manager is Audrey Kennerley (GDC No.159836) who after being Richard’s nurse for 10 years, trained and obtained the Dental Practice Manager qualification. She is responsible for the day to day running of the practice, and is also our dedicated treatment co-ordinator, and can discuss aspects of a patient’s treatment plan with them in a non-surgery environment.
The Surgery Staff
All our dental nurses are either qualified or are working towards their qualification; many have been with us for several years, and as well as assisting the dentists are able to answer any questions, and help to put patients at ease.
